Why do Roman Catholics omitt "Gloria Patri" during Holy Week?
"GLORIA PATRI, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen."

This Latin prayer "Gloria Patri" or commonly known as "Glory Be" is often heard after each decade of the Holy Rosary. The prayer is a constan reminder to us that we should not forget to give glory to the Holy Trinity, which is God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and to His everlasting holiness.

However, during Holy Week "Gloria Patri" is replaced.

V. Christ is Obedient to us unto death

R. Even unto the death of cross

This prayer is from the verse Philippians 2:8 wherein, it states that "
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death-- even death on a cross!". It reflects the painful sufferings of Jesus Christ that he has endured because of his love for us and to save us sinners from our sins. It also expresses the sorrowful ambiance of the Holy week.

This Holy Week is the best time for us to repent whole-heartedly from our sins and to remember Christ's sacrifices and love for us that had saved us all.
